HANDCRAFTED IN THE MACEDON RANGES, CENTRAL VICTORIA

Froni Binns creates tactile, lightweight, and colourful porcelain pieces that balance precision with the natural rhythms of handmade. Every piece celebrates colour, form, and the beauty of imperfection.

a return to making

After pressing pause on her career in the community sector to care for her parents, Froni Binns’ rediscovered what had always grounded her; working with her hands.

What began as a late-night creative outlet soon became a daily practice, a way to reconnect with herself through colour and form. In 2018 she began making porcelain jewellery as a form of therapy. By 2019, she was wholesaling to galleries and design retailers across Australia.

Porcelain’s alchemic ability to absorb and reflect colour drew her in. The material offered both structure and chance, a conversation between control and unpredictability that defines her design approach today.

design philosophy

Each collection explores the push and pull between precision and imperfection. Froni’s pieces are unglazed to allow their authentic colours to shine through, creating tactile forms that invite touch and connection. Her work transforms raw porcelain into wearable art, distinctive, well-balanced designs that feel as good as they look.

the maker behind the work

Froni is a self-taught ceramicist with a background in visual arts. Her creative process is informed by curiosity, experimentation, and an acceptance of imperfection.

Working from her home studio in the Macedon Ranges, Froni shares her space with dog and cat, August and Ollie, surrounded by a native garden which inspires her palette and patterns. When she’s not at the bench, you’ll find her bushwalking, tending her garden, or baking for friends.

a thoughtful alternative

Each piece is designed for comfort, longevity, and joy, jewellery that feels beautiful to wear and meaningful to own. Collectors describe them as conversation starters; subtle statements that connect art, design, and everyday life.

Froni’s work appeals to those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Whether you discover her pieces online, at a market, or in a gallery, you’re invited to experience the tactility, balance, and colour that define her work.

collaboration and community

As part of her ongoing practice, Froni continues to explore collaboration and dialogue within the ceramics community.

A recent highlight was Bendigo Crafted (2023), a creative partnership with ceramic artist Garry Bish that brought new perspectives to her process and reaffirmed her belief in the value of shared making.
